About

This blog documents my experience living abroad. I have earlier posts from studying abroad in South Africa in 2012. Currently, I am focused on my experience with Peace Corps Zambia as a Peace Corps Volunteer Leader. In this job, I help manage one of our Provincial Offices and support other Volunteers in their projects. I'm loving it! I was previously in the Rural Aquaculture Promotion (RAP) program and was a Rural Fish Culture Extension Agent. I aided farmers and interested parties to establish healthy and productive tilapia farms in rural settings. I also worked a lot on nutrition and health education, especially with malaria and HIV.

The Peace Corps Mission is to promote world peace and friendship through three goals:
  1. To help the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women.
  2. To help promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served.
  3. To help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans.
My intention here is to help fulfill this third goal, of sharing my experiences, trials, tribulations, successes, and joys in Zambia with my community at home.

Hey teachers! I'm especially interested in connecting with an interested classroom in the spirit of cross-cultural exchange. If you're a teacher and want to collaborate on lesson plans, write letters with your students, or generally keep in touch, please let me know.

Also, if you have a word as a suggestion for a blog post, pass it on! I love to learn new words.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, about me, about Peace Corps, or about my life in Zambia.

Thank you for coming along this journey with me!
